Apologies again for another post on prawn mee and curry mee but I was around this area very recently hence I decided to search for it. I must admit I never knew this place existed hence I was curious to check it out. This place is a haven for food - there's malay and indian selections at the medan selera and chinese food at the zinc roof side. Across the road, there's more items with an economy rice stall which was quite popular during lunch time.
This particular stall next to the mamak stall is run by an old couple and their son (I think). The husband is the one doing most of the work with the wife helping out and the son serving the noodles to the customers. Although the food isn't as good as other places, what amazes me is the prices they charge for their noodles. A small bowl is only RM3 while a large bowl is RM3.50. Both the noodles I had at seperate occasions are the small bowls and they were generous with their portions. The prawn mee comes topped with sliced prawns and pork plus lots of deep fried shallots. Even though the stock is not as fragrant as compare to Yong Len in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, it's still a pretty satisfying meal.
They also serve delicious Curry Mee which is only available on Tuesday and Friday. The noodles is served with a piece of chicken, cockles and vegetables. It's not too creamy nor as rich tasting compared to the other places. Usually the customers add their favourite ingredients whether it's chicken or cockles to the noodles. Even the drinks at the next door mamak stall are very reasonable - one small glass of teh tarik is 90 sens so you definitely can get a pretty substantial meal for less than RM5 here including your drink.
Prawn Mee and Curry Mee Stall
Section 2 Stalls
Off Jalan Penchala
Petaling Jaya
(Non Halal. Open from 7 am till lunch or when they have sold out their food. Days off not fixed. To get here, from the Federal Highway, if you are coming from KL, turn left at the Jalan 222 turnoff. Go straight pass the Indian school on the left hand side. You will reach a roundabout, take the three o' clock turn down Jalan Penchala. Drive all the way down, you will see Campbell Soup factory on your right hand side, Hanlim and etc. At the end of the road, take a left when you see a single storey medan selera. Next to the medan selera, there are stalls underneath a large canopy/zinc roof. The stall is the one next to the Mamak man selling drinks and nasi lemak packets which faces the road. There are also stalls selling chicken rice, wantan mee, noodles and yong tau foo all over. The Malay and Indian stalls are at the medan selera.)

the best of the best so far for me. it doesn't over spicy, not so over ajinomoto, sweet prawn taste in their soup. but after i moved to another place never go anymore
joe - curry noodles sounds good. Do blog abt it.
philip - sorry, jogoya is no longer the place because food quality has dropped. I'm not an expert on buffets but I know Zipangu is out as their cooked food is not great. Have a good time in KL. Per what Joe said, maybe Iketeru at KL Hilton may be a good choice.
big boys oven - I love curry mee or any noodles so expect lots of noodly posts.
unkaleong - LOL. You better not eat all this all else the six pack will dissapear soon....
teckiee - old town area. Near the market and further down from Campbell Soup factory.
joe - zipangu not nice though. Horrible pre-cooked food. Prefer the stall type concept as food is fresher.
unkaleong - how come we can't tag along for the eating part? Not too sure abt the IT part as you 2 will be talking too much technical stuff. I'll send Splashie Boy as my representative for that.
lemongrass - didn't know you're into prawn mee, thot it was sashimi.
christine leng - no name, just follow the directions and you will find the cluster of stalls.
poonky - sounds good, any directions how to get there or at least a jalan name so easier to trace it on the map?
there u go the map,
the red cross means
a "paragon point mall", the kopitiam i mean just north west (left side across the street) u will found a kopitiam call "shin hwa" (closed early though..the prawn mee shop..11am max)

Still not sure where it is....hmmm...
poonky - thxs.
wmw - PJ Old Town Area. Way inside the factories and just off the market area on Jalan Othman. Start from Federal Highway and it will be a breeze by taking the first roundabout. Never knew there was food there as I never traveled all the way down before.
i will make sure i drop again then i shall blog about it..
