Pan Meen @ Taman Bukit Maluri, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur

Sometimes it amazes me what you can stumble onto if you follow your instinct. Although Taman Bukit Maluri is relatively near my place, I must admit I rarely wander that direction. It's really easy to get here especially if you use the highway, Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong.

This particular area houses the famous Tuck Kee Dim Sum but since it was late afternoon when I was here, Tuck Kee had not opened for business yet. Instead following the crowd of people around this stall right next to a car workshop, I discovered yummy pan meen. Although I wanted the dry version since it was such a super hot day, I noticed that everyone's preferred choice was the soupy version. A small portion (as seen above) comes with a very generous topping of minced meat, vegetables and crunchy ikan bilis. The noodles which is made by hand and rolled out in a small pasta machine was al dente. Served with cekur manis leaves in the broth, it was extremely good plus value for money. A small portion only costs RM3.20 while a big portion is RM3.70.

I also liked the chili sauce which came with the pan meen that was spicy with grinded green chilies. This stall also serves Curry Noodles and you can opt to also eat your pan meen noodles with the curry broth.

Pan Meen Stall
Opposite car service centre and in front of the TNB Substation
Jalan Burung Bebarau
Taman Bukit Maluri
Kepong
Kuala Lumpur

(Non Halal. Open from 2.30 pm to 11.30 pm. Closed on Sunday. To get here, from the LDP, turn right towards Taman Bukit Maluri at the traffic lights after the toll booth. Go up the ramp and turn right. Drive straight down and make the second left turn at Jalan Burung Jentayu. You will pass by Tuck Kee on your left hand side so make a left turn after you see Tuck Kee. This stall will be on your right hand side and opposite a Michelin signboard.)

I love this kind of chilli in my pan mee. Pedas and sour? The pan mee looks really yummy. I have no idea where Taman Bukit Maluri is. :-P

precious pea - sorry, not kai choy, will amend. Dunno why I have kai choy in my brain - something to do with the kai choy rice my mother was talking abt. It's cekur manis leaves.

big boys oven - such a heap they added!

ddonkey - I didn't know abt this place. Just saw the crowd of people and decide to try it out.

mycoffee - must consult u one day on pan meen since u're the expert.

babe - it's very popular as everyone was heading here after work.

christine - do try this as the sauce has enough kick.

jason - yes, and so reasoably priced too.

laymank - this version has no egg like the spicy one in Kin Kin.

Thank you very much to Mr. Chong for the announcement that always causes problems in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong, We have had Hindus in Desa Jaya for a long time, many years to find those who burned our Temple in Taman Daya, Kepong .....

We are members of the Buddhist Temple in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur and we have been issued membership by the president (DATUK YIP KUM FOOK), we are very sad because we are the foundation of this Temple

Now we can know who is always messing with people, and he always cheats money and women, he even uses Buddhism to find money.

Also, need to be careful with his brother-in-law (Simon Low Kok Meng) because he is a spy (CID) for DATUK YIP KUM FOOK and we will write some letters to AGONG SULTAN IBRAHIM IBN ALMARHUM SULTAN ISKANDAR as soon as possible.

We would like to mention a little about Datuk Yip Kum Fook or the lawyer in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong because he is a very bad crook in Kepong, now many people know what he does.

Datuk Yip is my best friend from before but now we are far away from him because he has done many bad things and cheated many people including our best friend, Datuk Yip is not human; he is a human animal because he has no shame

We know him from being a lorry driver delivering furniture, playing politics and being an MCA in Taman Daya, Kepong, even then he was funny because he liked to play with women and suck people's money all over the place.

On the other hand, we need to be careful about Simon Low Kok Meng (Datuk Yip's brother-in-law), he is very protective of Datuk Yip when you talk bad about Datuk Yip, and Simon Low will inform Datuk Yip quickly
