Chicken Rice Wine Noodles @ Sisters, Jalan Alor, Kuala Lumpur

Since yesterday was an overload of pictures, I reckon today's post should be kept to a minimum to ensure internet connections work smoothly.

I have been looking for this particular stall for the longest time but since they shifted, I was not sure which shop they went to. Recently, a friend pointed out to me which shop they had gone to hence I could finally visit them to try their famous chicken rice wine noodles. Incidentally, Jalan Alor in the mornings is nice and quiet compared to the crowds of tourists hanging out here at night.

Run by two sisters (I only saw one sister that day when I ate there), this stall has been in business for more than thirty years. Their specialty is the chicken rice wine noodles which is extremely slurp worthy. The soup is so sweet tasting with young ginger shreds, black fungus shreds and tender chicken that I finished everything till the last drop. Although it's a bit pricey at RM8.50 for a bowl with an extra fried egg, they don't skimp on the rice wine here hence you taste it in every spoonful of the broth.

Besides these noodles, I also saw the lady preparing curry noodles. She also does a pork intestine and offal version in the same rice wine soup.

Mmmm... haven't had red wine noodles for very long...
:)
Thanks for the heads up...
Shall try it soon...
(I remember being uncomfortably hot for the whole day after eating this dish though - the red wine is very "heaty", right?)

j, this one is plain rice wine not the red type. anyway my fave in this stall is their curry laksa! to me, that is the perfect version of curry laksa. the sisters used to sell assam laksa but had ceased to do so at the current location. their porridge and wantan noodles are not bad either.

J - this is not red wine like the Hup Yick one. This is the stuff you get if you're going through the confinement month. Very delicious.

Chris - Cool! It's addictive and so yummy that I don't mind paying RM8.50 for it.

babe - the curry laksa looked good too and I saw her use the thin wantan noodles. Will go again and try those items but difficult to resist this dish as it's so delicious.

Meiyen - go try it here or if you have a friend/relative who just gave birth, can also pinch some from them.

Good curry laksa as there's 'chu (or isit 'kai-hong') ie. coangulated blood pieces. However, compared to their previous stall, the business seemed to have dwindled.

tummythoz - yeah, business seems to be not so good. The one which I ate before, fish head noodles and curry laksa is doing much better.
