Char Siu @ Meng Kee Char Siew King, Shah Alam

Fans of the famous
Meng Kee Char Siu who live around the Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Shah Alam area can now rejoice as there's a branch at the Hicom Glenmarie area. No longer do you need to fight the down town traffic to indulge in your sticky charred char siu anymore.

Located at a corner shop facing a field, this restaurant serves wantan mee with char siu and breakfast toast and eggs for breakfast. For lunch, it's their famous char siu and their steamed chicken or roasted chicken whereby the chooks are from Bukit Mertajam. After sampling the char siu a few times, you can tell the slight differences between the two branches: here the char siu is not so sickly sweet and there's not many too charred bits. A definite plus point with me since I hate too sweet char siu and abhor those hard overcharred bits. I also prefer the steamed chicken here as it's the meat is tender.

If you do drop by here especially for lunch, be warned as this area gets packed with the people who work at nearby offices and factories looking for a bite.

Meng Kee Char Siu
20 (Ground), Jalan Pekedai U1/36
Hicom Glenmarie Industrial Park
Shah Alam
Tel No: 019 - 379 3629

(Non Halal. The shop is closed on Mondays. To get here, drive through Glenmarie until you reach the Shell petrol station. Take the first left and go straight. Take a right at Jalan Pekedai and drive down. The shop is on the right hand side.)

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! What wonderful news!!! Yeah, this is near my house and now I have an alternative to the usual excellent curry laksa/curry chee cheong fun that I normally have on Saturdays in Glenmarie. *grinning widely*

Lemongrass - no problemo. Must go try the curry laksa, heard that it's also very good stuff but somehow when I'm here, I end up eating sticky char siu.

After reading your write-up on their KL outlet, now i know which one you talking about. Oh yes...been here only once and char siu is very nice!

precious pea - yeah, the char siu used to be really good but recently not so nice as too sweet. The shah alam one is better as not so sickly sweet. Meat is nice and tender too.

Thanks for the info. Now i know where to get my fix of good char siu, should I crave for some.
By the way, in your directions, I quote, "... drive through Glenmarie until you reach the Shell petrol station", did you mean coming from Shah Alam, Subang Jaya or KL? TQ.
