Gong Xi Fa Cai to all! Sorry for the long absence but I have been taking a long blog holiday - celebrating with relatives.
I'm usually not this busy during Chinese New Year but for the first time in 5 years since my dad passed away, my mum decided she'll celebrate in KL versus Singapore. Hence we had the traditional visiting of older relatives and even entertaining at home.
Celebrations kinda kicked off on Chinese New Year's eve, when we had our reunion dinner. Since we celebrated on the actual day itself, finding a venue was tough (every where was all booked up including our regular place at Chynna, KL Hilton). We settled for Overseas Restaurant at Jalan Imbi. The town was nice and quiet as everyone had left early. However, Chinese restaurants were all packed with people celebrating. Overseas Restaurant was full of people (all three floors) that night. Although it was a bit chaotic, the food standard was still maintained. They were eager to serve us, as they wanted to cater for any latecomers.
The next day, it was time to visit the relatives and I stumbled on my cousin's ingenious idea on a money tree. Great idea especially with the orange red RM10 notes but kinda dangerous since one could just walk up to the tree and "pick your own angpow". We entertained at home, eating loads of goodies - curry chicken, roti canai, putu mayam, home made vegetarian food, cookies and etc. It was good fun catching up with relatives and generally pigging out on all the food. Hope all of you also had a good time doing the same.

mimi - nah, only decoration but I can imagine those itchy fingers.
Kong hei kong hei! Thanks for being there for me on CNY eve. I really appreciate it. :-)
Last year my aunt's cherry blossom tree was filled with angpow so the kids just go and grab it themselves. I like the RM10 display better.
Kung Hei Fatt Choy, boo. May you and family have wealth, health and propserity in the year to come.
Kung Hei Fatt Choy to you and your family!

how do u stick the notes on ? with staple or sticky tape ?
not a good idea if you plan to gamble under the tree...one might just "borrow" a piece or 2 if on a losing streak...hehe...
