Gold Dragon City Seafood @ Paramount Gardens, PJ

Sorry about not posting yesterday. I had this all ready and resized but did not manage to do the write up the whole day as I was out. On to the food which is what matters to our rumbling tummies. Recently my family had lunch at this restaurant that we often go to around Paramount Gardens. It's a popular haunt for everyone in the family especially for family occasions as they serve pretty good food at reasonable prices.

This is my mother's favourite dish, the steamed "fei chou" or ikan talapia with a spicy bean paste sauce (RM30++). The restaurant seems to have perfected this dish as they always get the fish just nicely steamed and the bean sauce is not too salty. I can definitely vouch for their consistency as we always order this dish until Splashie Boy got so sick of eating it. Although the fish is not the expensive kind, if steamed just right, it's really yummy.

Another must have we always eat is the braised bean curd and hairy gourd (RM15++). This time round the hairy gourd was a bit old and fibrous but the bean curd was nice.

This is my personal favourite, siu pak choy (Chinese for small white cabbages) cooked with yam cubes and dried shrimp (RM12++). It's a take of the siong thong yeen choy (Chinese for spinach in anchovy soup) which uses yam cubes to make the stock. The dried shrimps add flavour to the soup.

We also ordered the herbal chicken (RM28++) which wasn't too fantastic that came in a thickish brown sauce flavoured with the herbs.

If you wish to eat here, you can also order from their pre- set lunch and dinner menus that offer value for money.

I love Gold Dragon City.
They have this deep-fried pork knuckle dish which you must order 3 days in advance. IT IS FANTABULOUS. Crispy on the outside, juicy and porky on the inside. A must try the next time you go with your family (it's a bit too much for 2 ppl to eat)

Hmm... isn't RM30 for the Talapia more than a little expensive?

I had some yesterday and it was just RM8... granted it wasn't a very big fish.

Feel like trying the cabbage with yam cubes..The only Chinese cuisine with yam that I had eaten are yam with pork, yam basket or any desserts with yam paste..

wandernut - thanks for the tip on the deep fried knuckle dish. I had a pork rib dish with sauce the other day which was excellent too.

wyejon - I think it's the normal price as that was good enough for five of us. Could be this is slightly higher since this is a restaurant. The best thing abt their talapia is no smell of earth unlike the fish you get in ponds.

kampungboycitygal - it's yummy! Soft yam cubes to be eaten with the vegies. You can actually make it at home as my mother made it for me that day.

Went to this restaurant last year for a friend wedding dinner. Food was good so i decided to return some other day. It happened that last night my whole family went back Gold Dragon City Seapark. Food is terrible now, Roast suckling pig over burnt, Fried lemon chicken stinks.
And guess what the manager said when we complain. He said food is like that, if change dish scare chef scold. Stupid fella don't know do business. Damn expensive somemore cost near to RM500. For me its the 2nd and the last time i be eating in this restaurant.
