Noodles @ Restoran Toong Kwoon Chye, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Here's something simple to start the week with - delicious tasting noodles. This old fashioned place has been around for the longest time ever. In fact, if you read the write ups, the third generation is now running the restaurant.

Since I wanted something different, I went for the Braised Mushroom and Chicken Feet Noodles. Really excellent stuff which was so satisfying. The mushrooms were tender but full of flavour from the braising liquid. I loved the chicken feet which were huge and puffed from the liquid they had absorbed. They were also tender and delicious right down to the last bone. The noodles served were also good, not the chewy type but I felt it had less alkaline water in it to make it crunchy. Besides this type of noodles, the restaurant also serves char siu wantan mee, char yoke (the Hakka braised pork dish with black wood ear fungus) and etc.

It's relatively easy to get parking right in front of the restaurant if you turn at Royale Bintang Hotel on Jalan Bukit Bintang. It's also near the notorious Sun Complex where it is rumoured to house a few brothels. In fact, if you wander down the back streets around this area at midnight, you'll see ladies of the night hanging around to beckon clients from the back entrances of the budget hotels.

I've always been worried about hygiene in this shop. But then again, with a stomach of steel, I shouldn't worry too much, eh? LOL.

Used to come here in the old days when I walked from Sg Wang Plaza to the Klang Bus Station (those days, where got car hehe)!

The best way to eat Wantan Mee is with some cut green chillies soaked in soy sauce. Braised mushroom and chicken feet is a must for me on Wantan Mee besides char siew.
