When it comes to places to eat, I tend to return back to familiar territory. Although I don't live in Petaling Jaya anymore, it's still my preferred choice for food. The area around the Seapark Market is a hub for good food. There's Soo Kee for Ipoh Hor Fun and the best poached chicken ever, fishball noodles at the Tang House of Fishball, yummy assam laksa and prawn mee in front of the market, pork noodles at the nearby Seaview restaurant, great food at O&S and the list goes on and on.
This particular place has been here for a long time and it's always the old lady hunched over the two cast iron woks deep frying the chicken. Whenever you walk past this place, she's always there in front cooking away. Every thing revolves around her - the frying and chopping of the chicken. The other people only get to serve the rice and the accompanying soup.
Here the chicken is crispy with no additional flour coating. It can be a bit dry so it's advisable to eat it with the buttery fluffy rice or the sweet soup made from boiling the chicken bones. Another new addition to their menu is the Penang Lorbak. Deep fried till the bean curd sheets curl to a tantalising crispy sight, it tasted really good too with that soft filling. Akthough the food here is really good, for those who wear heels beware as the floor is extremely slippery and oily from the deep frying.
