Wantan Noodles @ Restaurant Hock Lim, Petaling Jaya State

After hearing about this place, I finally got to try it one Saturday. Usually, when we're running errands around Petaling Jaya State, I'll grab a quick snack from the mini egg tart stall. This time round, the stall was not around. Not sure if he has closed down permanently or closed for the Chinese New Year period (some hawkers take off after the festive season as they don't rest during that time).

Anyway, I decided to try the wantan noodles. Heard a lot about it from friends. A small portion costs RM4, with a few pieces of char siu and two small wantans. The noodle texture is nice - chewy and bouncy. Although the char siu looked dry, it was actually not. The wantans, nothing much to shout about. Overall, a satisfying meal but I would not say an exceptionally brilliant plate of noodles. Eat only when you're around the area.

My fave is Sec 17, in my backyard ;o) Eh, the charsiew slices didn't look as good as the ones I had when I went there last time. Must go early for nicer cuts.

We've tried wantan mee off Jalan Klang Lama which is quite good. I've no idea where this place is but it looks good.

nic - the koon kee place, I like their dumplings. So delish. Must dig out my pixs on that place.

wmw - this was abt 11am? Is that late?

BBO - LOL! Hope u find a good one.

terez - yeah, koon kee is good. Wow, Overseas version must be better with their melt in the mouth char siu.

christine - cool!

paprika - sigh, while I was typing out the blog, I was dreaming of the Lai Foong's wantans as I love those.

wenching and esiong - oooh, sounds yummy. Food at that area, always good stuff.

jason and kampungcitygal - cool, hope you get to eat it again.

j2kfm - If you are traveling on the LDP, towards 1 Utama from PJ or TTDI. At the turn off to 1 Utama, take a right instead of the left turn to 1U. Go straight up the road, past the 2 traffic lights. At the end of the road (up a hill), take a left. Go straight and past one traffic light, slow down and when you see a open air food court (rasta), take a left from the road and drive towards there. Hope that helps!

jeromefo - cool! Lucky you as it sounds like free food?
