Dining Out @ Fullhouse, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, Kuala Lumpur

deep fried soft shell crab with garden salad and wasabi mayonnaise (RM10.90)

I admit I've always wanted to visit Fullhouse especially after all the blogs were peppered with reviews of their Nui Ze Xui outlet. Since Ara Damansara was an area I rarely ventured too, I finally got my opportunity at their new outlet on Jalan Yap Kwan Seng.

pretty plant decoration, iced lemon tea, the lunch crowd of ladies, forest mushroom soup
This whole area is bustling with traffic - everyone rushing somewhere to get sustenance during their one hour break. Located in a bungalow, parking can be quite a nightmare here (seems there is parking at the back) but we ended up taking the easier option - valet parking by just chucking the car at their front yard in the hope it returns unscathed. Inside the white washed house, it is packed to the brim with the lunch crowd.

Smoothies-fruities fish (RM22.90) - pan fried butter fish infused with passion berries fruit reduction and sun-dried tomato

The whole place has a cute-sy and adorable feel to it that is hard to resist i.e. white wooden furniture with white lace curtains. Downstairs is the dining area, the kitchen and an area where they display furniture items and knick knacks. Upstairs (do check out the adorable pictures of the characters of fullhouse on the landing) is a small boutique, a dining room for a larger crowd and a balcony area where you can sit outside at night.

cutesy containers, wok seared chicken chop, the open kitchen, my awful tasting dessert, lace curtains add to the charm.

You select your food from a menu, which is laid out like a magazine complete with news on the boutique, which Hong Kong celebrity is visiting them and etc. The set lunches seem to be the draw of the crowd here. Each character in Fullhouse has a favourite set meal (pasta, fish, chicken and etc) - I decided to go for Tony's favourite meal: wok seared chicken chop with black pepper raisin jus served with forest mushroom soup, iced lemon tea, cake for RM18.90.

The set meal arrives at lightning speed (as a quick peek at their kitchen reveal a lot of items are prepped ahead). Soup is a little watered down but still very pleasant to drink and I especially liked the almond flakes on top. My chicken chop was juicy and I did like the fluffy mash potatoes and raisin sauce served with it. The soft shell crab appetizer we also ordered was good - lightly battered and fried with an appetising mayonnaise tinged with wasabi to give a tingling sensation to the tongue. Splashie Boy's butterfish was very good too - smooth and flaky with a tangy sauce. Incidentally, I made pan fried butterfish last night, while it was very nice to eat I realised it's not easy to figure out if it is cooked since the opaqueness of the flesh is hard to tell with the colour of the fish.

While mains were fine, dessert in a form of an artificial tasting sponge cake with even more cardboard tasting frosting was terrible leaving a bad aftertaste in the mouth. One major gripe I do have about this place is service is appalling here - the staff seem very untrained to hold their plates and serve. One fella accidentally spilled my cake on the floor while attempting to serve it. He ran off when it dropped and only returned with my replacement cake after a few reminders! Conclusion of this place is it's great for a quick meal but don't expect much from the desserts or the service. From
Sean, the man about town it's also great at night when things quieten down and you get a lovely view of KLCC's phallic-like twin towers.

Was told that the food isn't great.
People normally go for camwhore because of the pretty decorations..
But I have not try in any of their outlet yet. Might find some time to go over, I know there is a branch in Sunway Pyramid too!

hard to find good cheap chicken chop these days. if you throw away the artificial tasting cake, RM18.90 not that cheap for mushroom soup and chop.. but since it's delicious i guess its worth a try;)

I've only dined once at the NXZ's outlet. It's a really pretty place I've got to admit. But beyond it's perfectly manicured plastic hedges, the food didn't impress at all. Quite sad.

I don't know if their NZX outlet is still there or not as I remembered reading an article regarding the dismal state of NZX. Guess the hype died after a while.. as the location is really not that strategic :)

Much like The Gardens (the eatery) in 1U and Curve, purely for the ambience, not so much for the food I feel.

i've dined in twice at the NZX outlet. the first time was back in 2008 and the food was pleasant. (the nasi lemak and fish was good)

going back in 2009 was a major disappointment. they used the same sauce for the pasta AND fish. it went well with the fish (well..a little mediocre on that), but the pasta was ready to be thrown away.

by the way, the cakes aren't made by them. the cakes came in huge stackable plastic trays from some chinese bakery.

uhh..but the ice lemon tea was good..d:

Basically you can get similar food at the mamak without paying premium prices for the staff there to be rude and insulting.

Next time i think about going there, i'll flush my money down the toilet bowl and go hungry!

To be fair, my experience was at YKS. However, i believe all outlets are same owner. Same owner, Same trainig, Same culture

Warning for ladies! The staircase that leads to all the fashion stuff, if you are wearing a skirt, be prepared to be exposed.

Hi, i also went to Full House in Sunway Pyramid before. The interior decoration is nice. The food is ok. I am curious about your perception towards Full House Restaurant. May you help me to fill in a simple questionnaire please? The link to the questionnaire is as below. Thank you.
