I was first introduced to this place by Max Chin from Max Kitchen and Wines. Great recommendation as this small coffeeshop at the side of the busy Old Klang Road serves excellent char kuey teow. According to him, the stall is run by three brothers who fry their noodles only on a two plate basis hence maintaining the "wok hei". This stall was also one of the recommended in Sunday Metro's best char kuey teow search.
You can order the normal char kuey teow with rice noodles but a specialty is this version - mixed with mee. Fried with lots of lard, there's scrambled eggs, bean sprouts, cockles, char siu slices and fishball pieces, the noodles are extremely delicious and sinful. Also good is the local coffee here with a fragrant aroma. Too bad it is a bit thin though and not as thick as I prefer.
Kedai Kopi Theng Wah
4 ¼ Mile
Jalan Klang Lama

(Non Halal. Open from 7 am to 3 pm. If you are coming from PJ towards KL, the coffeeshop is on your left hand side. It is located at a corner single storey wooden shophouse and near to the Maybank and TBM shop.)

Is this the one with 'choy sum' instead of chive? If it is, i have tried this before. My dad told me this is CKT KL style.

ReplyDeleteHi I'm Carlo from the Philippines. I'm a frequent visitor there in KL and I so love the food. My favorite is chicken satay and ais kacang :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite restaurant is at Chinatown besides Swiss Inn. The cook there is a very big guy. If you saw him you can say that he truly looks a very good cook :)
Wah... sinful stuff!
ReplyDeletehi. got here via google when i searched for unbleached flour.
ReplyDeletejust want to know for your apple torte recipe, where did you buy the unbleached flour? i'm thinking of baking bread but the recipe calls for unbleached flour, which i do not know where to buy. your help would be much appreciated. thank you.

asmadi - check with the local bake shops? I don't think they differentiate though but no harm in asking. I know places like Cold Storage bring in imported flour, you maybe able to get unbleached flour there. Hope that helps yr quest.
boo_licious,
ReplyDeletethanks for the cold storage suggestion. it's my first time trying to bake a bread, so i tried to follow the recipe closely. oh well, if i can't find unbleached flour, i'm just gonna try using the typical bleached flour instead.
aiya so near my house and i dunno about it (malu), gotta go try this CKT soon!
ReplyDeleteasmadi - yeah, sometimes it can be a problem looking for ingredients in KL esp if we refer to foreign cookbooks. Hope the bread baking turns out well.
ReplyDeleteJessica - LOL! This is near that BKT you blogged abt before. Funny sign the fella has for BKT, on the car.
