Previewing Krispy Kreme's Original Glazed Doughnuts

Sugar High Tuesday! These hot and sweet babies arrived in the office just after lunch, hence we had a chance to pre-taste them. Based on earlier emails and messages I have been receiving, there's definitely a buzz going on about Krispy Kreme's opening on 10am, 27 April, 2009 at Berjaya Times Square. For more details, go see the
Facebook group.

Eager beavers stand to win prizes - the first person gets the golden ticket with 1 year's supply of the original glazed doughnuts. Second and third in line, get 6 months and 3 months' supply of the sugar coated treats while those from the fourth to hundredth get 1 month's supply. I can imagine people camping out outside the store on the 26 April to score that prize!

Tastewise, they were pillowly soft and very sweet. Nuke them in the microwave for 8 seconds and they become even softer. We liked them with a cup of hot unsweetened coffee to balance out the sweet taste and best of all, unlike other doughnut brands, the glaze sticks to the doughnut vs your lips, when you eat them.

  1. we were debating the prices of these sugary bombs.. closest guess was rm3, judging that there are way more expensive overseas..

rm2.50 seems good but considering every1 buys in bulk, it only gets cheaper!

  2. Yay, you're in the special-Krispy Kreme-preview-club. Then again, why won't you be. LOL. They seem to be delivering it randomly to offices around KL. Cool way to promote.

Agreed that they taste way better hot! And since I've gotten a chance to try em, I'm in no hurry to make a beeline to Times Square. Will just duduk diam-diam and wait for the Mid Valley store to open. :)

  25. Joe - you planning to stand in queue on 27th April???

qwazymonkey - nice meeting you last nite! Can't wait to see the Lim Kee comic. Yeah, I can imagine doughnut overload in the Klang Valley soon...

    Cool steffi!

Leonard - seems they are distributing to selected companies and I even heard they have a truck delivering doughnuts. Guess they're creating the awareness early.

adrian - with that 1 mth to 1 year supply of free doughnuts for the early birds, I can imagine loads of people there camping out overnite.

andrew - yes, texture is definitely there vs JCo and Big Apple but so much sweeter!

j2kfm - maybe economies of scale here, as I heard they are planning to open quite a few outlets?

sc - yes, go get there from 27 April onwards...

You'll be where the action is Vincent!

Julian - yes, we were very lucky but I have heard loads of stories abt other lucky people too.

Unkaleong - wah, can even make an excuse to visit it. Hmmm, I wonder if I can also arrange to drop by BTS?

ai wei - am sure they have half a dozen, just that it makes sense to promote the 1 dozen boxes?

hi 5 mimi - they are awfully sweet but so soft.

Jean - never mind, go try later, exam first.

babe -oooh, didn't hear abt that, I've heard they deliver to companies and also a truck is going around giving them away also.

550ml - yeah, it will be like JCo when it first opened: loads of crowds at first but then empty now...

leo - they're wicked. Could only eat 2 of them and you feel so sick from the sweet taste. Much better with coffee.

    good luck agnes!

kampungboycitygal - hope they get to win the ticket!

precious pea - u tried b4 in HK, so no biggie for you already.

aiks, lucky you Lushia as it is so near!

teckiee - yup, just wait and it should be easier to get them.

bangsar-babe - that is what my colleague did yesterday...she did a Homer Simpson and swiped all the doughnuts!

sugar bean - yup, starting 27th April, we have them selling in BTS.
