One of my regular readers, ka..t just highlighted to me what happened to her at Food Foundry recently. Her bag got snatched from her lap in the evening while she was dining there. Seems it's not the first time but no warnings has been placed by their management. For those of you who do visit the place, be very careful. It's terribly disheartening to read how our safety is compromised even in spaces like restaurants.
Aside from this, I have heard of an incident at Little Penang Cafe in Suria KLCC where their windows open out to the walk area. This lady had left her handbag next to the window and a person walked past and stole her handbag.
If you hear of any other incidences, do share your experiences for us as it helps us to be more cautious.
Hm. i eat in little penang in klcc quite often. I do sit beside the window area also. I've got to be careful.
ReplyDeleteThat sure is a sign of troubled times indeed ! So for once V offer our iron clad impeccable companionship body bag guard services for all those ladies ( yes so happen its only da ladies right !?) in return for good co & temptingly flavorful conversations + one or maybe 2 coffees feshly brewed ! hahaha OMG

ReplyDeleteput handbag on the lap also kena snatched??? should i sit on my purse when dining out? haiz....
ReplyDeleteCan't even eat in peace be it by the roadside or even shopping complexes (a national pride, no less). Times r indeed baaaaad.
ReplyDeletehoribble! i think best of all, don't even bother to carry a handbag.. wear pants/skirts with pockets!
ReplyDeleteI heard same thing happened in Fatty Crab at Taman Megah. Scary.
ReplyDeletefunny, i've left comment here and at kat's this morning and they disappeared! grrr... i had wanted to mention that the hawkers row opposite neroteca and madras lane did warned me about snatch thieves over there. most prone were those who leaves their mobile phone on the table.
ReplyDeleteLOL at xiu long bao.. Yeah, I think really must sit on the purse, that seems safe!!
ReplyDeleteThanks boo, for highlighting this. Have to warn people to be extra wherever they are, crowded places or otherwise! You also know how tucked-away this place, right? Right off the lap too, not as if the bag was behind me, or on the table/chair next to me!!
Like meiyen and wmw says, now I go around with my stuff in my pockets!
That is really terrible to have a purse stolen out of one's lap. I am so sorry to read about that! So many times I put my purse on the floor, window sill, back of chair, and lap, and not think about it. Next time, I will think twice.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah. Times are bad ... so hafta be careful of your belongings wherever you are, not only dining area. Especially ladies, when you're walking on the street ... towards your car maybe, don't be walking and talking on the handphone at the same time. Things can go bad when you're not focusing.... Take care .
ReplyDeleteunfortunately, incidents like these have been pretty common these days. All we can do is practice some precautions. I rarely take my handbag out unless necessary when i was back home. I just bring my wallet, which i tuck into my pants or sometimes just money and IC.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly this story attracts more comments than food. Soory if my comment ofend anyone. I have heard WORST stories. Snatching handbags from a motor-bike dragging the poor victim on the road. Cut off victim's finger to snatch the ring. gruesome!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso snatching happen to my close relative outside the FRONT GATE!!!! Imagine.
do u know that ur blog is being featured in kl lifestyle magazine? http://www.kl-lifestyle.com.my/image/Apr07/Features05.jpg congrats!
ReplyDeletekampung_boy
ReplyDeleteYes, there are more gruesome stories. My colleague saw this. He was driving behind a Kancil driven by a Malay lady. Both stop at a traffic light. A motorcycle stopped next to the Kancil's front passenger door and opens it. The pillion rider took the lady's bag and went through her things. He took the valuable stuff and threw the bag back at her and coolly went off when the light turned green. The lady was too stunned to react! This happened in broad daylight!
It is important that we lock all the doors the moment we get into the car and leave your handbags out of sight, ladies!
teckiee - better be careful!
ReplyDeleteteam bsg - wow, sounds good. Bodyguard services.
foodcrazee - yeah, I just heard this crazy story abt these robbers breaking the car window to get the notebook when the people were about to drive away at Amcorp Mall. Scary stuff.
xiu long bao - I know! Now scared to even carry handbag.
tummythoz - sad rite? It's also appalling as I see so much more police prescence nowadays with patrol cars all over but crime seems to be bad.
meiyen - heard even stories abt them going after old ladies and asking them to empty their pockets once as they knew they carried wallets.
precious pea - aiyoh! Thxs for the info.
ReplyDeletebabe - madras lane is scary. They have people who bump into you and pick yr pockets.
kat - yes, best to highlight it or else we forget abt safety issues. Still amazed how bold they were to snatch it from yr lap!
jackson - better be careful. You don't want to lose yr handphone again.
lannae - maybe it's not that bad in USA? I don't remember feeling so unsafe there.
timothy - yeah, must be alert at all times.
expedited writer - yeah, that is why nowadays must buy pants with pockets.
kumpung boy - yeah, the worst is those who die in the incidents.
kampungboycitygal - thxs for the info, yeah I know abt it as a friend highlighted it to me last mth.
bayi - gosh so scary! I always lock my doors when I get into the car and I also put my bag at the bottom of the floor so it's not in plain sight. Heard of instances where they smash the window to grab the handbag even.
