Weekend Cat Blogging (WCB) 94

This weekend, it's all about the action! as Fluffy gets ready to sharpen her claws on the palm tree. One thing good about having a huge garden with trees - the kitties have their own scratching posts which they use all the time.

Besides sharpening claws, it was a stressful Saturday for all of us as the boy cat had to take his medicine. He was limping a few days back with a wound at the back of one of his legs hence he's now on medication. No more limping and full of energy as it was already a few days after his visit to the vet, he was struggling when we tried to feed him his pills. It was open mouth, put it in and spit out the pill no matter what we did. Eventually we did get some of the pills inside him after a long struggle.

  1. Fluffy looks very adorable on this picture!

It is very difficult to make cats swallow pills. I remember that Fridolin always spat his pills when he had his accident. Even if we hid them in his food, he still found them , grrr...

  2. Oh Fluffy, you are the stylish cat when you are in action! What a lovely photo, boo knows how to take photos of you!

About the pill thing... good luck. What works here is to roll the pill in butter or lard, then roll it in cat treat crumbs/dust. Then, get a finger in edge of the mouth, mouth opens wide, toss that pill in the back of the tongue, shut the mouth, and then gently rub the neck. Good luck! I hope it works out! With agile and wiley cats, pills can be really tough!

  3. I love the concentration on Fluffy's face. You get that tree, Fluffy.

Our cats hate pills! When Lyra had some tooth extractions recently, all of her medication was liquid. Squirting it into her mouth with a syringe was much easier than trying to get a pill down. Good luck!

  4. Fluffy also looks like one of our departed kitties, who was named Hooter because with her big eyes, her face looked like an owl!

  5. Sher - She's an exact replica of her mummy. Smaller and naughtier though. I'm sure we have that pill thing somewhere but since it was the two of us, I thought it would be easier but NOT! Luckily he took his antibiotics with no problems tday.

rosa - yes! My cat used to sniff it out in his food. It was so frustrating esp since you want them to get better.

lannae - nah, she's a good model kitty with her amber eyes. thxs for the tip, will give that a try for the last pill for tmrw.

kimberly - it was kill the tree!! Yeah, I always freak out when the doctor says pills.

artsy catsy - sorry to hear abt yr dearly departed kitty and hope Fluffy brings you good memories abt Hooter.
