Must admit, it's one of the nicest I have tasted hence I can't blame them.

lemongrass - if you love xiao loong baos, so far the best in town are at the Shanghai, Marriott.

tankiasu - well, hopefully their mgt are savvy IT surfers so they can improve with these comments.

D - yeah, think they were out to corner the mkt on unusual buns hence the crazy price.

wyejon - shock, horror! You mean even in China not nice but then if the Chinese like it means their palate is different from ours so that could be the taste of real xiao loong bao.

d - ok, not that shocking then. The best ones I have tasted here in KL have been the restaurant ones as these new outlets the xiao loong baos quality is not consistent.

kampungboycitygal - yeah, so am I. Usually I don't eat here but no choice.

meiyen - yeah, you poor thing.

team bsg - sad rite, super nice pixs but taste not there.

fbb - LOL on yr Hainan chicken rice. I often think things in China their food hygiene can be bad as my mum just came back from Guilin with a tour where 2/3rds had food poisoning. Yup, straw for you to suck up that expensive soup.boo_licioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00727039659969643180noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-64855266470857203532007-03-22T00:59:00.000+08:002007-03-22T00:59:00.000+08:00groan, why do i keep losing my comments on your bl...groan, why do i keep losing my comments on your blog?

i was saying (after wye jon's comment) that food in china is generally not all that great. i had the hainanese chicken rice in hainan, and it was bleaghhhhh.....

what is that stick in one of the paos? it looks like a straw. is it to suck up the soup?fatboybakeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17872577399803066735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-70458287476513858422007-03-21T21:22:00.000+08:002007-03-21T21:22:00.000+08:00dunno bout da taste etc but your gorgeous pixs are...dunno bout da taste etc but your gorgeous pixs are definitely v v savoury ( they deserve the full price of the meal V think...+ bonus)backStreetGluttonshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14460576943361174364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-57279509791684677482007-03-21T16:40:00.000+08:002007-03-21T16:40:00.000+08:00this place reminds me of da uncooked "xiulongbao" ...this place reminds me of da uncooked "xiulongbao" that we had!!!!MeiyeNhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08830945756437855100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-55461744088689852652007-03-21T15:21:00.000+08:002007-03-21T15:21:00.000+08:00a bit sien with these shanghai concept eateries dy...a bit sien with these shanghai concept eateries dy..crystal jade is exceptional!! :pKampungboyCitygalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17387464666589369215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-46330937572910109882007-03-21T14:02:00.000+08:002007-03-21T14:02:00.000+08:00In defence to the "real thing" I've tried both the...In defence to the "real thing" I've tried both the long-queue version "street level" and the restaurant version at the top. They have a "tea house" level in between. Basically, similar fare but the prices increase exponentially as you go to the top. Restaurant version was one of the best xiao long paos I've had, but I hear it's abit hit-and-miss sometimes. Best to go on a weekday where the queues aren't that long affecting the quality.Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06359110545522855505noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-66359251882684800042007-03-21T11:12:00.000+08:002007-03-21T11:12:00.000+08:00I've tried the real thing in Shanghai (even lined ...I've tried the real thing in Shanghai (even lined up an hour for it)... they're no good at all.

I'd be very surprised if the xiao long pao here is any better :)wyejonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02627083906454305320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-35480052140553521902007-03-21T10:21:00.000+08:002007-03-21T10:21:00.000+08:00Gosh, there are so many stalls now claiming to be ...Gosh, there are so many stalls now claiming to be NanXiang from Yu Yuan in Pu Xi, Shanghai.
