Try the TMC one, it's better than the one in Giant.

honey star - Hee Hee! I used to buy from a stall at PJ's Sect 17 pasar malam on Tuesdays, but have not gone there for a very long time, so I don't know if it's still there.

And not all are good either..I once tried one stall near my place at Rawang, it was so crappy (not enough coconut and sugar) that I threw it away! Will try your recommendations at Giant and TMC soon.

The putu mayam at Grand City Rest at Sect 11 is quite good as the coconut they use is fresh and moist (a lot of places reuse coconut that has been squeezed, hence dry and tasteless) and they use real gula melaka, not plain brown sugar.

Aiyo..it's now 1230 and I'm craving for putu piring!!! Putu Bambu tastes exactly like Putu Piring except for it's shape.

flower - yeah, the one in TMC is pretty good. I wonder whether I can track down the old man - nowadays see a lot of them around with the metal box selling putu mayam.

J - it's sweet from the palm sugar/gula melaka inside and slightly saltish with the grated coconut.

foodcrazee - I thought you only have petai on your mind? Maybe wifey will be craving for this soon?boo_licioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00727039659969643180noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-1155555397990397122006-08-14T19:36:00.000+08:002006-08-14T19:36:00.000+08:00please yearn for this food....please yearn for this food....FooDcrazEEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02819094686497050751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-1155555333283620132006-08-14T19:35:00.000+08:002006-08-14T19:35:00.000+08:00Hmmm... looks good...:)Never tasted putu anything ...Hmmm... looks good...
:)

Never tasted putu anything before though - is it sweet/ sour/ salty?Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00207893782305790601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-1155524459446593722006-08-14T11:00:00.000+08:002006-08-14T11:00:00.000+08:00Used to buy Putu Bambu in Shah Alam night market. ...Used to buy Putu Bambu in Shah Alam night market. But I still prefer putu piring. Bought that from the hawker stall opp. TMC in Bangsar. The putu mayam, I prefer the one I bought infront of my old office in PJ Old Town. Sold by an old guy on the bicycle. The one in Subang Jaya, the putu mayam not as white and soft as the one in PJ.Flowerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09116698706787247945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12324774.post-1155522840943754732006-08-14T10:34:00.000+08:002006-08-14T10:34:00.000+08:00Whoa....Putu Bambu.. something new to me!
